The final conference of the “ACS2Youth” project was held, organized by the “AzBuki”.  Speakers were project managers, Zaklina Eftimovski from Nis and Slaveyko Slavkov from Sofia. Project partners are “AzBuki” from Serbia, “Studio Progetto” from Italy and “Euro Consulting Group” from Bulgaria. The aim of the project is to support, through workshops and volunteering, young people with disabilities and youth workers who work with young people with disabilities.

“The project is also intended for volunteers who socialize, work with young people with disabilities, then students, pupils, professors, because what we have done can be used in both formal and non-formal education through the NGO sector and organizations,” said Zaklina Eftimovski.

One of the main problems addressed by this project is the social integration of young people with disabilities. Project participants believe that if they are isolated from society, young people with disabilities need some kind of help and support to return to the community, to socialize with peers and to be part of the local community.

The main purpose of this program is to connect people and make them think about doing something together. I can say that this program has achieved its goal, to make friends with people, because I think we have enough friends in Nis, “said Slaveyko Slavkov.

There are two project results. One is a 70-page study course, which is available on the project website. The study covered several aspects. Some of them are the legal status of people with disabilities and their rights, ways to help develop social skills and socialize. Jacqueline especially highlights another project result, an online city mapping platform. “Locations in three cities, Nis, Sofia and a Cornedo Vicentino near Vincenza in Italy, where the project partners are from, have been mapped. Mapping is about locating in some way, whether they are fully accessible to people with disabilities, to some extent or completely inaccessible. ”

Erasmus + projects mainly deal with mobility, and what is special about this project is that there is no mobility. “What is nice about Erasmus + projects is that something that is made, some result can be used by everyone. Just as various applications, programs, tools can be found on the Internet, so you can download the training or use the training itself, the map and so on directly from the site. The essence is to, with the support of Europe and the European Commission, create something that everyone can use in Europe and the world, all you need is an internet address and that’s all, “says Jacqueline.

The project lasted 12 months and ends on October 1, until then it remains to translate the project site into three more languages, so that everyone in the world can use the achieved results.
